The Potters House, Stockport

A Pentecostal Church for all people

About Us

We are a church planted from The Potters House, Manchester in 2007 with a vision to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the unconverted, to make disciples and restore our communities.

We present the challenge of the gospel in regular church services, Revival services with guest ministers and Evangelists, Gospel Concerts and Films - for responses of repentance and faith in Christ to see a thriving church in Stockport that is effective in restoring lives and reaching out to others.

Christian Fellowship Ministries started in 1970 in the US from churches planted by Pastor Wayman Mitchell and the Foursquare Church in Prescott, Arizona, part of the 'International Church of the Foursquare Gospel' denomination founded by the Evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923.
This growing Fellowship of churches became independent of the Foursquare denomination to allow independent churches to be planted beyond the denomination's restrictions. The UK fellowship has planted churches in Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, Ireland, France and Italy.

WE BELIEVE:

Jesus Christ is the SON OF GOD and man can only be saved by faith in His atonement, made through His sacrifice on the cross.

Man must experience regeneration, 'BORN AGAIN' turning from sin and becoming a follower of Jesus Christ.  BAPTISM, full immersion in water, as a sign of repentance and turning from the 'world' to embrace a new life in Christ and death to sinful life.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the initial evidence of
'SPEAKING IN TONGUES' and gateway to the gifts of the spirit.

The RETURN of Jesus Christ at any time to reign as King.

The HEALING power of the prayer of faith, through the unchanging nature of Jesus, the same today, yesterday, forever.

The BIBLE is the unchanging and inspired word of God,
the only authority for the church.

The TRIUNE nature of God - Father, Son & Holy Spirit,
One God, three persons of the Godhead.

The Pastor:
Paul Pritchard was converted with his wife Ann at a Gospel Concert for the opening of The Potters House, Manchester at the Amani Centre on the Alexandra Park Estate, Moss Side on the 28th of February 1998.  Both atheists, they had been students at university and married for six months.  Discipleship with the church's founder, Pastor Jay Nembhard, began with learning to lead Bible Studies and preaching. With Pastor Kosi Amesu, Paul began leading evangelism teams in Manchester; other UK towns & cities; internationally in Gibraltar; and preached in Liverpool & Wolverhampton.  Paul was ordained to preach and pioneer the new church in Stockport at the Fellowship's International Bible Conference in Walthamstow in May 2007.

Particular interests include: the history of ancient & modern Israel and the Jewish people; the history of Wales & the Welsh revivals, the history of Pentecostal revival; the history of England, Reformation and the Methodist revival; the history of science and the relation of science & Christianity.

Paul studied Biology at Manchester Metropolitan University and Hebrew at the North Cheshire Reform Synagogue; Paul also teaches history at a local Christian school & is a Science Presenter for local Primary Schools.

THE CHURCH

We have experienced conversions, restoring of backslidden Christians,
Holy Spirit baptisms, healings, financial miracles and changed lives.
Visiting ministers have often given an accurate 'word of knowledge' for the encouragement of church members and visitors.

Our teaching is evangelical protestant, pentecostal & free-will, recognising the wider body of Christ, of all born-again Christians in various protestant churches, denominations, associations and other fellowships.*

Our worship is contemporary, currently led by the pastor on electric guitar, with modern praise & worship songs, choruses and hymns.  Words are projected on the front wall, allowing worshippers to clap and raise hands.

We baptise adult believers in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit,
by full immersion in water.

We usually take communion once a month in memory of Christ's atonement, with non-alcoholic grape juice and unleavened bread (matzos).

We lay hands on believers for the baptism of the Holy Spirt, and healing.

We give free-will offerings to financially support the church and encourage the principle of tithing (giving the first ten percent of income) as the basic biblical standard, in thanksgiving, not in compulsion.

We raise a monthly offering in support of missionaries in the fellowship.

The congregation is independent and autonomos, the pastor is accountable for moral and doctrinal integrity to the pastor of The Potters House, Manchester, which planted and supported the work.

The church is legally recognised as a Charitable Trust and is financially accountable to the Charity Commision and inspected by Independent Examiners Limited.

* Visitors from other churches are welcome for evening and revival meetings, while encouraged to fully support the church where God has placed them, to work out issues with people and the pastor, rather than breaking fellowship.  God's plan for church growth is evangelism and prayer for the lost.

A decision to leave a church, the body of Christ, should be taken very seriously, with much prayer for wisdom.  While some of our most fruitful labourers were saved in other churches, but became fruitful within our Fellowship, if all churches were to seek God and reach the lost, we could all have revival.

We pray that God would refresh all of our fellow labourers in the gospel here in Stockport.  The harvest is ripe, but the labourers are few...
